The S.M.A.R.T. Flats building’s design was inspired by renewable resources and centered around the improvement of indoor quality. Residential units frame the central atrium where living walls flank the sides of the open space. Located in the center of the atrium are two cooling towers inspired by ancient Mosque architecture which intake cool natural air from above and exhale indoor heat. This recirculation of air provides a natural air quality which enhances user’s health. Above the atrium is a glass canopy which allows for natural light to fill the space.
